The style of dress for George was taken from the famous painting of George Washington crossing the Delaware on Christmas Eve, 1776. The General is holding a whip, echoing Thomas Jefferson’s statement that Washington was “the best horseman of his age, and the most graceful figure that could be seen on horseback.”

Proceeds from the sale of this figure will help support the Mt Vernon Ladies Association.
